We’re impressed by, but also a little suspicious of, those self-promoters who never miss an opportunity to get out of their communicative comfort zone and go where the action is – center stage, right in the spotlight – even when it’s painful.

We’re talking about thick-skinned fighters capable of rolling with the punches – not the people who’ll only get the job done in an emergency, but the ones who actively seek out the spotlight and see every emergency as a new opportunity.

By my estimation, our beloved IT department regularly tops the virtual ranking lists when it comes to shy nerds. ;-) 

As a self-confessed limelight hog, I’m breaking away from the tradition of the nerd with stage fright and taking on the top job on our communicative front line.

And as a freshly minted editor-in-chief, I’ve made it my goal to introduce you to some of my shyer but just as talented nerd colleagues. But you have to be nice to them and give them a bit of time to get comfortable – they’ll thank you for it!

Priority number one, however, is to keep you well-supplied with varied, meaningful content – and to give you an honest insight into how we see the world. If you brand me a know-it-all nerd or a freaky exhibitionist – well, that’s just the risk I run in staying true to my limelight hog nature.

But don't forget that even the most hardened limelight hog needs a little recognition every now and then; a little encouragement; a few likes and shares... ;-)
